• Body & Soul connection

Practice awareness to be at one with your horse

Connect body-to-body and show your horse the way

Being able to correctly connect your body parts improves your ability to balance. Once you are balanced you are able to feel your horse more because your body will be quieter and softer. Improved balance also gives you the confidence to calm your mind and to focus on what matters.

Horses are mirrors of their riders

When you have a good combination of relaxed energy, positive focus, and both you and your horse are aligned, you will start achieving the magic of CONNECTION. You will mirror each other. Your horse will be happier and improvements will happen much quicker than before.

It’s all about positive influence

You are the leader in the relationship, and your horse will appreciate your kind and smart initiative. Add mutual balance to the equation, and the easier it will be to positively influence your horse. You will experience paramount joy when riding, and there’s no better feeling than that. CONNECT and ENJOY!

To connect, let go mentally and physically

Be aware of how your body and mind feel

Connect to your horse’s mouth through your elbows

See if you can follow the movement of the head and neck concentrating on the back of your elbows. With soft shoulders and elbows your hands become the vessel to carry the horse’s movement to your elbows. If you do this well your reins with stay straight regardless of where your horse moves his head and your connection to your horse’s mouth will be much more positive, but at the same time there will be freedom for the head and neck to move naturally.

Let all the tension drain out of your legs

Try to let go of the tension on the outside of your hips, really concentrate on this area of your leg. If you feel safe, take your feet out of your stirrups and let your legs hang all the way from the hip to your toes. Let all the tension drain out of your legs so they feel like wet noodles. Once this is accomplished, your leg will feel more connected to your hose’s side without effort and a little more weight will sink into your seat bones.
